Foreigner Test Negative for Coronavirus in St. Lucia

A foreign national who was quarantined in St. Lucia in line with protocols established for the coronavirus has tested negative.

The announcement was made by Chief Medical Officer Dr. Sharon Belmar-George.

Samples from the individual, who arrived in Saint Lucia on a private yacht from a neighboring country, was taken to Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) based in Trinidad for testing.

 The foreign national arrived on the island on Tuesday and was quarantined.

 This created a torrent of speculation and rumors on social media that the dreaded disease had arrived in the country. 

The Saint Lucia Medical and Dental Association has warned against the gathering and spreading of information about the disease from unverified sources.
