Second annual Community Tourism Enhancement Competition

Communities across the island are invited to compete in The Dominica Community Tourism Association incorporated second annual Community Tourism Enhancement Competition.

Speaking during the official launch on February 12, 2020, Manager of the Dominica Community Tourism Association Lester Riviere, made known that the competition is expected to build greater awareness of Dominica’s community tourism subsector. 

As further stated, The CTEC was launched last year and aims to ‘improve the aesthetic qualities and enhance visitor experience’ of the community’s tourism product. The competition will be judged on the four pillars of Cleanliness, Landscaping, Hospitality and Community Involvement.

One of the highlights of the competition is that the communities are supposed to put develop event-based in their tourism product. The community of Marigot won last year’s competition in the Northern zone and launched a very successful ‘Bonfire’ event.

The five zones competing this year are: Zone 1 -Giraudel/ Eggleston, Zone 2-Layou, St Joseph and Mero, Zone 3- Grandbay and Bellevue Chopin, Zone 4- Soufriere and Scotts Head and Zone 5-Wotten Waven and Laudat.
